Don't fall in love with a poet
Don't fall in love with a poet
He'll break your heart
And leave you sad and lonely.
He'll make you a second choice
Cos he's already glued to his muse
Who's always feeding his soul with inspirations.
He'll feel more affection for his pen
His life he'll devote to his poems
He'll bond with them and leave you rejected.
Most times he'll make you feel happy
With his pen he'll paint you beautiful
Lo, oftentimes those lovely lyrics are mere sacarsm.
At the peak of your pleasure and romance
He'll leave you unfulfilled and unhappy
To attend to his muse who when had left don't easily come back.
Don't feel any affection for a poet
Nor get intoxicated with his words
He'll leave you sad and lonely.
If I tell you I don't love you
If I tell you I don't love you
Will it bring darkness to your smile?
If I tell you behind these soft spoken words
Lie the cravings to cure my lust.
If I tell you it wasn't love I feel for you
But a taste of those tangerine dangling
On your bare bust
Will you eat me up with hate?
If I tell you what I feel inside
Is a spark of lust from passion
To quench the fire in my loins
Will your dawn turn to dusk?
If I tell you I don't love you
But craves for the gentleness of your skin
Covered by those corruptible clothes
Will I still see the sunshine of your smile?
Mother's Love
A mother's love is like virgin rays
of the morn' soothing sun.
Her eyes are like stars in a starry sky
they shines so bright like priceless pearls.
Her smile is like sunshine
so bright and beautiful.
Her laughter so lovely
like music pleasing to the ears.
Her hugs are like dewdrops at dawn
so calm and comely.
Mothers are beautiful like butterflies
their hearts so pure like gold.
Warmth the water in her womb
where we all made our first home.
A mother's love is so genuine and true
she's willing to work with you through the flames.
Thoughts I can't hold any longer
Disquieting
thoughts, irksome.
totally
overpowering.
Hankering,
overwhelming.
dreams, chasing
on the run
ambitious.
Espoused,
so disconsolate.
where's the sweetness
in being spouselessly unfettered?
Fatherhood,
am i
unloving,
egotistical, or
my emotions insane?
Consort
of my prime,
asked her that night
if i'd courted fear,
or our love surging
on frozen waters?
Hope,
an elixir or hitch?
said why they override me
is that I'm not hawkish to life, etc.
Sad.
Don't Marry Me
I walk this street with lies
my lips I'd polished just for the prize.
I'm always drunk with power
my heart schemes deceit every given hour.
Don't marry me for I live on fake propaganda
delving on showy political extravaganza.
Why should you marry a man you can't trust on his journey
who only leaves you lonely at sundown chasing money.
Don't marry me for I'm a fair-weather man
my interest is in the masses votes, but in my gate there's a ban.
Don't marry me for I love money more than you
i have kept my people perpetually poor, ceasing not wealth to accrue.
Don't marry me for I'm a politician
who thinks of nothing other than my ambition.
An Expiring Love
As night turns into day and day to night
our love that burns in flames fade away.
With each moment of lies
ebb the tides of our glowing love.
All the sauces of affection
dies the moment trust is gone.
When the heart is filled with only reminisce
of yesterday's love.
Memories of sweet kisses and loving affection
the hugs of intimacy and nights of bliss.
With each anger and regrets
and nights of tearful loneliness.
Bring us a step nigh
to our final good-bye.
A piece of her pain
She let those sad tears flow
Like a waterfall wetting her cheek
A catharsis from her darkness.
Those sad tears she let it flow freely
To show as an interpretation
Of the pain that plaques her from within.
The world doesn't care
What woes she's enmeshed
Nor bother why her lovely eyes are dimmed with darkness.
She weeps silently
Her only consolation is hope
For a tomorrow that may never be hers.
Most nights she speaks of death
In sad starving songs of sighs
Soaking her pillows with sorrowful tears.
In those darkest hours she prays for the glowing mornin' lights
And hope it's ray pierces through her hazy heart
Lifting off her shoulder a piece of her pain.
My husband's new mistress
My husband now has a mistress
A young beautiful girl with curves able to cause one distress.
My husband says I'm old and worn out
That my skin is now rough and my breasts unable to stand out.
He said he needs a young girl with fresh blood
One whose loins flow like current in a season of flood.
My husband had caused me so many nights of silent tears
That one day I'll loose him to another woman remain my fears.
I love my husband and still gives him the pleasures of the night
I will never disrespect him or engage the other woman in a fight.
Men are fighters, conquering new territories is their pride
So, I'll allow him even though he'd decided to make her a new bride.
I will not leave my husband for another woman
Nor leave him for another, for a man must always be a man.
For when a man is tired of eating from the same pot for too long
My people will support him and not see his actions wrong.
What if tomorrow never comes
What if tomorrow never comes
And all your wishes with wings didn't get to their various homes.
What if your dreams for a blissful morrow didn't become a reality
And your hopes and aspirations were just thoughts in vanity.
What if those thoughts of youthful love and bliss
Meet you when you're only old and gray in tears to reminisce.
What if your answered prayers in flight from heaven's gate
Meet you when you've returned to the dust in a peaceful state.
What if you've been living all these while on dreams dark as night
While forgetting that dreams not nurtured can't get to a limelight.
What if your desired tomorrow never comes at all
And your today's deeds were made to stand tall
What will you be known for when you're gone
'Cos you own only today, tomorrow is for those yet unborn.
