Dimpho Makokoe

Let Go Of It All

The masks that cover our skulls
Hiding away the peak of light
To reveal the other side
Where the light brightens
The veil we still hold on to
Clustered around our eyes
Covering our ears with our
Own hands
Eating the seeds before reaching the soil

Let go of what has been
Could have been
Must have been
And, the must be's

Embracing the heat from the sun.
Melodies from the birds
Chickens as our faithful alarm ringers
Never missing a day
The moon kissing the dams
Trees covering us with the cool shadows

Compassion

What happened to conscious
Affection faded, cruelty introduced itself
To the cognitive of multitude
The mind racing not by choice
Slaves of external, invasive thoughts
Of darkness to dim lights of eyes
Opened lacking just but sight

Then just one smile of a little girl
A touch of an old woman
Bringing a feel only oceans know
Knew then before the blemish of water
Coloured now our streams are
Even the blood in veins is said to be green now

With one heart the city shone
Songs of praise heard in all corners
The clap of hands while praise went up
Someone, somewhere, somehow shone
The light at last
The streets rejoices
Hearts are filled by just One Heart
Unseen yet existing

Forbade

Venom moves freely
Undetected, the scent all smells
A virus has hit town
Hide inside houses and meet no more

We forbade it
We God Warriors
When we went down on our knees
We prayed
Declared war
Claimed victory

We are the Kings and Queens
We declare things that eminates
Radiate the light inside beings

Forbid anyone or anything
Doesnt matter who or what
Forbid all who denies man to fellowship

A school of the gifted
The chosen, called, talented
Born with a burden from birth.
Bearing forth solutions
To liberate, exalt and magnify God
